PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL SESSION

OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE

SOUTH TAMA COUNTY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on May 19, 2025 for a Public Hearing  at the STC Partnership Center, Tama, Iowa at 5:00 p.m.

On call of the roll the following were present:  Elizabeth Dolezal , Rick Hopper, Joe Hanus, Megan Thiessen, and Beth Wiese.  Quorum Present.  Also present were: Superintendent John Cain, Board Secretary Katie Mathern, Mary Mixdorf, Dixie Forcht, Barrett Hubbard with ISG, and members of the community through Google Hangouts. 

Motion by Hopper, second by Wiese to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.  The motion carried.

Public Hearing - Middle School Roadway - Proposed Plans, Specifications, Form of Contract, and Cost of Public Improvement:  President Dolezal opened the Public Hearing for the Middle School Roadway at 5:00 p.m.  President Dolezal asked for public comments.  Hearing none, President Dolezal asked for a motion to close the Public Hearing.

Motion by Wiese, second by Thiessen to close the Public Hearing at 5:01 p.m.

The special session was called to order at 5:01 p.m.

On call of the roll the following were present:  Elizabeth Dolezal , Rick Hopper, Joe Hanus, Megan Thiessen, and Beth Wiese.  Quorum Present.  Also present were: Superintendent John Cain, Board Secretary Katie Mathern, Mary Mixdorf, Dixie Forcht, Barrett Hubbard with ISG, and members of the community through Google Hangouts. 

Motion by Thiessen, second by Hanus to approve the agenda.  All Ayes.  The motion carried

Motion by Thiessen, second by Hanus to approve the following personnel requests.  All Ayes.  The motion carried.

New Hires:  Rylee Leshen - 4th Grade Teacher

Resignations:  Skyler Steveson - Agricultural Teacher & Assistant FFA Sponsor

Motion by Wiese, second by Thiessen to approve the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and cost of public improvement for the Middle School Roadway with Eastern Iowa Excavating & Concrete, LLC, in the amount of $451,270.90.  All Ayes.  The motion carried.

Motion by Thiessen, second by Wiese to adjourn the meeting at 5:20 p.m.
